The Pine Belt Farmers & Artisans Market Alliance seeks to improve the quality of life and health of communities across the Pine Belt by promoting positive social engagement as well as cultural enhancement through interconnected local economic relationships and exciting public gatherings focusing on local food. The Market begins in Hattiesburg on the 1st Thursday of April, this year April 1st, and continues every Thursday through the end of October. The Hattiesburg location for the Pine Belt Farmers' and Artisans' Market will continue to be Town Square Park, at the intersection of Main & Buschman Streets. The Market begins every Thursday afternoon at 3 PM and continues until 6 PM in the evening. Every week expect to find a seasonal variety of locally grown, fresh farm produce in addition to a wide variety of dairy options, delicious prepared foods of all types and nursery plants. Visitors to this show view more than 500 daylily specimens and arrangements. The show is one of the largest shows in the nation, in numbers of entries. In addition to marveling at breathtaking flowers, visitors participate in a plant sale, benefit from seminars, receive information at the Education Table, and swap stories and information with other daylily enthusiasts. Festival South is a two-week, internationally advertised, cultural-tourism and educational festival. The main components of the festival are public musical performances along with appropriate music-education institutes.
