Sneak Preview of "Downtown Abbey" Season 2 Premier Wednesday, January 4th, 2012 - 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm The Friends of Mississippi Public Broadcasting (MPB) will present a sneak preview of the Season 2 premiere of “Downton Abbey” on Wednesday, Jan. 4 at the Library of Hattiesburg, Petal and Forrest County in Hattiesburg. Refreshments will be provided at 6 p.m., and the show will begin at 6:30 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.
Winner of six Emmy Awards, “Downton Abbey” is a story of love and intrigue. The plot is straight out of the era of Jane Austen and depicts the intertwined lives of the aristocratic Crawley family and their servants. Season 2 resumes during the time of World War I.
Following the show, University of Southern Mississippi professor Dr. Andrew Weist, an expert on World War I, will give a brief talk about the history and time period portrayed in the show. Attendees who dress in period costume will be entered in a drawing to win “Downton Abbey” Season 1 on Blu-Ray.
“Downton Abbey” Season 2 airs every Sunday from Jan. 8 through Feb. 19 at 8 p.m. on MPB TV.
