Freedom Summer of ‘64

Freedom Summer of 1964 played a vital role in shaping the culture of Hattiesburg, the community I call home, as well as impacting the way of life in the entire United States. Historians even regard this as one of the three most important periods in the domestic history of our Country. In the grand scheme of things, it’s easy to lose focus on the individual stories that triggered the Civil Rights movement and the brave souls who made a difference and forged ahead in this battle of human rights. Hattiesburg is making strides to make sure that doesn’t happen, and you’re invited to remember with us!

Exhibiting Service and Sacrifice during Black History Month
