Armed
Forces Museum.
Camp Shelby has seen its share of military
history. Beginning as a training facility for America’s World War I
doughboys, Shelby has seen almost continuous service since World War
II. Both of these wars are strikingly depicted in the new Armed
Forces Museum.
From the trenches of France to the approaches
on Bastogne, full-sized dioramas let you walk through history, not
only seeing, but experiencing it from a soldier’s point of view.
Continue on through the Korean War exhibits and “dust off” in a
full-scale medical evacuation mission in Vietnam.
In the Tower of Honor, you’ll read accounts of
incredible acts of heroism performed by Mississippians and other
Camp Shelby trainees. These true American heroes were awarded the
Medal of Honor, our nation’s highest award for sacrifice and
courage.
Outside, the museum grounds showcase tanks,
armor, modern helicopters and vehicles from numerous campaigns.
Because Camp Shelby is an active military
base, full security measures are in effect, so please be sure to
bring ID with you for your visit.
