Southern
Miss Football. When fall arrives, there’s no
better place to catch up with friends, eat great food and experience
southern tradition than tailgating at
a
Southern Miss football game. There’s an electricity around campus
that starts hours before the game as one grill after another
ignites, sending the sweet smell of barbeque lofting across the
parking lots and grassy knolls of campus. Slowly, a tent city
springs up with neighborhoods of black and gold. Not only do these
silk, canvas and nylon structures cast a welcome shade, they also
catch savory scents drifting from nearby grills.
That’s another joy of this event and this town –
everyone becomes your neighbor. Whether you’ve known them for an
hour or most of your life, you’ll be sharing food and friendship as
if you were age-old friends.
Once you’re sufficiently stuffed with southern fare,
there’s a game to be played. Maybe you’ve seen a Southern Miss game
on ABC or ESPN. One thing’s for sure, as exciting as the games may
be on television, there is nothing like being here. It’s an
experience that’ll likely have you coming back again and again.
